Thank you for your support!
Together we accomplished a ton in the past 4 years. We thank YOU, the resilient community members of San Bernardino. Your engagement, collaboration, feedback, and civic actions are vital to the success of our collective mission. The organization appreciates all the changemakers, organizers, leaders, creatives, educators, small business owners, and institutions who strive to make the city of San Bernardino a thriving place. See some of our major accomplishments below:
Accomplishment Highlights:
- Established formal committees to lead our implementation phase of economic mobility strategies: Community Benefits Agreement/Housing; Purposeful Pathways – Career Development, and Land Acquisition Research. Â
- Just SB hosted eight bi-partisan community candidate forums resulting in engagement of over 350 community members participating in the forums and now connected to Just SB collaborative. These forums were initiated based on the Peoples’ Plan. Just SB partnered with KVCR and League of Women Voters to produce the People’s Forums.
- SBUSD adopted four out of seven of the Purposeful Pathways Committee’s policy recommendations focused on dual enrollment expansion, targeted support for student groups, increasing A-G completion, and expanding work-based learning.Â
- Successfully halted further displacement of residents downtown through advocacy against gentrification plans for the redevelopment of the Carousel Mall.
- Repealed the crime-free housing program which repealed discriminatory housing policies to persons involved in the criminal legal system and their families from being able to find rental housing in San Bernardino.
- Established a formal partnership with SOMOS law group to model out community land ownership.
Looking forward to 2025
This December we have been awarded a $7 million grant to further our mission of fostering an economy that benefits all people of San Bernardino. This significant funding will enable Just SB to continue implementing strategies that enhance wealth-building opportunities for the entire community.
The grant awarded on December 11, 2024, will support key initiatives such as Community Benefit Agreements (CBAs), Land Acquisition, and Purposeful Career Pathways. These strategies aim to provide access to affordable housing, high-quality jobs, worker empowerment, support for local businesses and entrepreneurship, informed career pathways for youth, investment in arts and culture, community-led development, increased civic engagement, and environmental protections.
Just San Bernardino extends its gratitude to the James Irvine Foundation for their continued support and investment in the community. We also acknowledge the Inland Empire Community Foundation for their role as fiscal sponsor and their unwavering support in the Inland Empire region.
